Chemo: Round 3

Today I stepped over the midway mark in my treatments.  I only have one more to go!  I can honestly say I won’t miss it; but my heart goes out to the people that will be there for countless more cycles; the nurses who are loving and compassionate and act as if they don’t have any other patient or task to accomplish and the volunteers who bring warm blankets, pillows, countless cups of water, sandwiches for lunch and the occasional therapy dog.

Everything went as expected today.  There were no complications and I was even out earlier than I thought  because my wonderful nurse added an extra line to my IV allowing her to administer the extra bag of fluid while also giving me the chemo drugs.

After three hours of sleep last night, I am starting to get sleepy.  I pray I will fall asleep soon after I go to bed and I will remain asleep for the entire night.

The doctor changed my anti-nausea meds in the hope these will not knock me out and I can enjoy Cami and her preparations for prom on Saturday.  Please pray these meds will keep me from being sick and allow me to remain awake and alert through prom and Mother’s day.

Thanks to everyone for their comments of encouragement.  I appreciate it more than you know.  It makes such a big difference in my emotions to know I am not alone. Continue to pray for me and my family.  God has a plan and I want to follow it.  Some days it is hard to hear Him.  But I find that He uses those around me to speak through your messages, comments, cards and gifts.  I am so humbled by your love and support.

Keep listening for God to speak. Sometimes it is very quiet and only for you. But he speaks and answers prayers. Remember to really listen as his voice speaks of his entire plan for your life. It might not be what you want to hear but it is his plan. Just listen up girl. YOU can’t plan this. I love you. Mom
